What is Modern Slavery?
Modern slavery is a growing global issue with an estimated 45 million men, women, and children believed to be affected (The Global Slave Index 2016).
This statement is made in accordance with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, on behalf of Unifarma UK Ltd operating and carrying on business within the UK. It sets out the steps that Unifarma UK Ltd has taken and continues to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within its business or supply chain.
Our Commitment
Unifarma UK Ltd is committed to conducting business responsibly and ethically, respecting everyone’s basic human rights, and will not tolerate slavery or human trafficking within our business or supply chains.
Due to the nature of our business, we continually assess any third-party modern slavery risk, engaging with peers and industry experts to identify business activities with greater exposure to modern slavery risks. These may include, but are not limited to:
Reliance on low-skilled workforce
Presence of child labour
Presence of labour intermediaries
Long, complex, or non-transparent supply chains
Our approach to managing modern slavery risk forms part of our broader efforts to respect human rights.
Unifarma UK Ltd works with all suppliers on a continuous improvement basis to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of their supply chains or business, in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We ensure that all internal and external stakeholders hold appropriate quality-related certifications, verified through regular inspections and audits. Key performance indicators are built into these audits to benchmark supplier compliance.
All Unifarma UK Ltd employees are trained in relevant internal and external codes of conduct to ensure awareness and understanding of these risks, and they are encouraged to report any malpractice or violations without fear of recrimination.
We believe that working long-term with suppliers and creating lasting relationships supports open and honest working practices. Unifarma UK Ltd has zero tolerance for any supply chain partners involved in unethical practices and will terminate such relationships immediately.
