Modern Slavery is a growing global issue with an estimated 45 million men, women and children thought to be in this situation (The Global Slave Index 2016). This statement is made in accordance with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, on behalf of Unifarma UK Ltd operating and carrying on business within the UK. It sets out the steps that Unifarma UK Ltd has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within their business or supply chain, in line with their parent company Unifarma Latvia.
Unifarma UK Ltd is committed to conducting business in a responsible and ethical manner, in respect of everyone's basic human rights, and will not tolerate slavery or human trafficking within our business or supply chains. Due to the nature of our business, we continually assess any third-party modern slavery risk, engaging with peers and industry experts to identify the business activities with greater exposure to modern slavery risk. Unifarma UK Ltd works with all its suppliers on a continuous improvement basis to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any of their supply chains or any part of their business, in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Ensuring all internal and external stakeholders have the appropriate quality-related certificates for all their business practices — this is verified through regular formal inspections and audits. We also ensure we put key performance indicators into our regular audits to benchmark all suppliers against.
All Unifarma UK Ltd employees are trained in all the relevant internal and external codes of conduct to ensure both a knowledge and understanding of risks, and are actively encouraged to report any malpractice or violation that they feel may result in such risks, without fear of recrimination.
We believe working long term with our suppliers and creating lasting relationships ensures open and honest working practices. Unifarma UK Ltd has a zero tolerance for any supply chain partners believed to be involved in unethical business practices and will terminate such relationships with immediate effect.
